Mary Cullinan Death Notice:

Former Southern Oregon University president Mary Cullinan, who left the school in 2014 to take the same job at Eastern Washington University, has died.Eastern Washington University interim President David May broke the news to the EWU community Monday. No cause of death has been released.

Cullinan resigned from EWU last year and following the resignation served as a special assistant to May.

She retained a position as a professor in the English department and, according to The Easterner, was expected to begin teaching following a nine-month sabbatical.

Cullinan was president of SOU for eight years. 

Before coming to SOU, Cullinan was provost and vice president for academic affairs at Stephen F. Austin University in Texas and held administrative jobs in the California State University system. She was dean of the College of Arts, Letters and Sciences at Cal State Stanislaus.
