Leola Maxine Curtis

March 29, 1931 - February 13, 2024

In Loving Memory of Leola (Lea) Maxine Curtis.

Leola Maxine Curtis, affectionately known as Lea, was born on March 29, 1931, in Kansas. She peacefully passed away at the age of 92 in Denver, Colorado, on February 13, 2024, surrounded by her immediate family.

Lea was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank J Curtis. She is survived by her daughter Lyn Curtis Drake and husband, Roy Drake, and her sons, Bryan Curtis, and Scott Curtis, and wife, Karla Barrett Curtis. Lea leaves behind eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Throughout her life, Lea called various places home, including Kansas, Colorado, Idaho, and Oregon. She dedicated 28 years of her career as a Financial Aid Administrator at Southern Oregon University, helping countless students achieve their dreams.

An avid traveler, Lea had a special fondness for Honolulu, Hawaii, where she was laid to rest beside her husband at the National Cemetery of the Pacific on May 21st, 2024.

Lea's vibrant spirit extended to her passions for playing the piano, fashion, staying fit, making friends, gaming, boating, and supporting her family. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, from the best home cooking to brisk walks and card games. Known for her youthful appearance, beautiful skin (she always stayed out of the sun), and impeccable style, Lea radiated grace and elegance, all the while being frugal, thrifty and humble.

In her final years, Lea found joy in attending charity and neighborhood events alongside her daughter, Lyn. She was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and kindness.

A celebration of Lea's life was held in Denver, Colorado, at the home of Lyn and Roy Drake. Family and friends gathered to honor her remarkable journey. Lea will forever be cherished and adored by all who knew her.
