Dean Harris of the Business School sends Emeritus Faculty a letter.
Dear Emeritus Faculty: During my first year as Dean of the School of Business, our activities focused on community outreach and regional engagement. Our faculty and staff interacted with more than 300 organizations throughout the region as we created internship opportunities for our students, refined certificate programs, and worked to meet the area's needs for managerial and leadership development. Working with industry focus groups, we have refined and enhanced our Hospitality and Tourism Management and Nonprofit Management certificate programs. In response to growing demand, we have also expanded our online offerings to include all core Accounting courses in addition to the upper division core courses which we offer in the online degree completion program. We are very excited about the reinstatement of an MBA here at SOU. The new Saturday MBA got underway this Fall term in Medford with a cohort of 37 students. The Master in Management program continues to thrive with two of this year's graduates recognized with the Guanajuato Award for outstanding graduate students. In addition to providing leadership development for working professionals in southern Oregon and northern California, SOU has more than 80 MiM alumni and current students in Guanajuato, Mexico. One of the highlights of our partnerships in the community is a new School of Business Advisory Board. Leaders of a variety of local organizations have graciously accepted to serve on the Board, providing us with invaluable feedback that will help us continue to meet the needs of our students and regional businesses. We are excited about the possibilities that are unfolding for us as we reach out to the community and grateful for what these opportunities will mean for our students. Thank you for the opportunity to update your terrific organization and we sincerely appreciate your support. Best regards, Dave Harris Dean of the School of Business and Medford Campus
