Dr Alvin Leon Fellers Obituary


Funeral Mass for Dr. Alvin Leon Fellers will be Friday, August 22, at Ascension Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Alvin died August 17, at age 94.

Born October 17, 1913 to Williams and Belle Fellers of Saguache, Colo. Al graduated from Adams State Teachers College and earned his Masters at Colorado State University with a Doctor of Education degree. Al served in the U.S. Navy from 1942-1945.

In 1944 Al married Annette Kuehn and together with their three daughters moved to Ashland, Ore., in 1953. At Southern Oregon College, AL taught English, coordinated student activities and was later named Dean of Students, a position he held until his retirement in 1976. A year later Al and Annette moved to Tigard to be near their children and grandchildren and have spent the last twenty years in the Portland area. Annette died in 2002.

Alvin was greatly loved and respected and will be dearly missed by his three daughters, Patricia, Marilyn (Tom) Fink, Debi, (John) Lake; his six grandchildren, Amy (David) Wilson, Jeani and Molly Fink, Dennis(Stephanie) Lake, Jimmy (Tracey) Lake, and Kenneth (Christine) Lake; five great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth Turano, brother, Marvin (Ruth) Fellers; many cherished nieces, nephews and friends.
