J. Claude White ObituaryDr. J. Claude White, 88, of Florence, Ore., passed away May 2, 2010. Dr. White was born June 8, 1921, in Juelph, N.D., and had lived in the Florence area for many years.
He loved wood working and playing golf. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army overseas. He graduated from the University of Oregon, with his doctorate in 1967. He taught for many years in the Eugene area and retired as a professor from Southern Oregon University, in Ashland.
He is survived by wife, Agnes Marian White, of Florence, Ore., and their children, Dorothy Jane White, of Portland, Claude Michael White, of Salem and Calvin Miles White, of Vancouver, Wash.; and grandson, Terrace Earl White, of Vancouver, Wash. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, May 8, 2010, at the Florence United Methodist Church. At his request private cremational rites were held through Burns's Riverside Chapel Florence Funeral Home.
