Michael Charles Haynes passed away August 20, 2012, in Medford, Ore. He was born in Ogden, Utah, October 13, 1934. When his mother died shortly after childbirth, he lived with his maternal grandparents until he moved in with his father and his father's new wife in Ely, Nev., at age eight, where he spent his childhood and graduated from White Pine High School in 1952.

 He married Karen Hope Prince in St. George, Utah in 1954, and he earned bachelor's and master's degrees in economics from Brigham Young University in 1964. He landed a teaching position with Southern Oregon College shortly thereafter and moved his young family to Ashland, Ore., where he would go on to become a respected and revered professor for 40 years before retiring in 2000. He completed all of the course work for his doctorate at Oregon State University and was awarded full professorship at SOU. For 35 years, he owned a business as an economic consultant and developed many close relationships with attorneys up and down the West Coast.

 Mike is survived by his wife of 57 years, Karen Hope Prince Haynes; his children, Michele Haynes Horn, Rick Haynes, Janette K. Haynes, and Jennifer Haynes-Clark; his grandchildren, Jessica Bledsoe, Nicholas Horn, Ryan Horn, Kaitlyn Horn, Sarah Zieg, Bea Hansen, Chelsea Wheeler, David Niumatalolo, Madeline Gregory, and Fenna Clark; and his great-grandchildren, Isabella Bledsoe, Brooklynn Zieg, and Quinn Bledsoe. Mike is also survived by his half-siblings, Richard Haynes, Connie Haynes Price, Paul Haynes, and Patty Haynes Heaton; and beloved stepmother, Christie Hermansen Haynes. Mike's mother, Ida Leona Peterson Haynes, and father, Reginald Scott Haynes, preceded him in death.
